Things I Wish I’d Seen at Comic-Con
Perhaps it’s my overactive imagination or undying love for Ewoks, but I felt that this year’s cosplayers – along with the Comic-Con decor committee – could have gone a little further with the nerdy ornamentation. They decked the halls…but they didn’t holodeck the halls. They went all out… but they should have gone all outer-space!
I catalogued my findings and compared them with my ideal Comic-Con visual experience: Here is what I saw versus what I wished I’d seen at Comic-Con 2012.
What I Saw At Comic-Con #1: This Escalator Full of Fans
What I Wish I’d Seen #1: This Escalator Full of Fans Dancing with a Flashmob of Jigging Hobbits.
One groove to rule them all.
What I Saw at Comic-Con #2: These Bigass Trolls
What I Wish I’d Seen #2: These Bigass Trolls Canoodling with Some Bigass Troll Dolls
Huge rhinestones FTW.
What I Saw at Comic-Con #3: This Sexy Gender-Bending Robin
What I Wish I’d Seen #3: This Sexy Gender-Bending Robin Next to a Gender-Bending Catwoman Think of all the whistles and catcalls they’d get together.
What I Saw at Comic-Con 4: This R2-D2 Fire Hydrant
What I Wish I’d Seen #4: This R2-D2 Themed Hydrant Replaced by Ewok-Themed Hydrants
Because I like Ewoks way more than robots.
What I Saw at Comic-Con 5: This Guy with Audrey II, the Carnivorous Plant
What I Wish I’d Seen #5: This Guy Dressed as Dr. Frank-N-Furter with Audrey II, the Carnivorous Plant
Because I’ve always wanted to see a Little Shop of Rocky Horror’s Picture Show mash-up IRL.
What I Saw at Comic-Con 6: These Kids Dressed as Miniature Iron Men
What I Wish I’d Seen #6: These Kids Dressed as Miniature Iron Men Holding Tiny Puppies Dressed as Miniature Iron Dogs
Because it’d be adorable.
What I Saw at Comic-Con #7: Darth Scuba Diver (?)
What I Wish I’d Seen #7: Malibu Darth Scuba Diver
Because Malibu Darth Scuba Diver would look awesome cruising around in a convertible Mustang with Malibu KENobi!
What I Saw at Comic-Con #8: This Scary (and Convincing) Zombie
What I Wish I’d Seen #8: This Scary (and Convincing) Zombie Teaming Up with Sexy (and Intimidating) Zombie Slave Leia
“Necrophiliac Jabba” will love it.
What I Saw at Comic-Con #9: This Rad LEGO Hulk
What I Wish I’d Seen #9: This rad LEGO Hulk Next To a Less-Rad LEGO Edward Cullen.
HULK SMASH TWILIGHT!
What I Saw at Comic-Con #10: This Dog on a Motorbike
What I Wish I’d Seen #10: Not Applicable
This dog on a motorbike is perfect.
Geek fail on Kristen Bobst for not knowing what a TIE Pilot looks like
Must say that #5 Plant was named Audrey II. Seymour was the little nerdy guy who took care of the plant.
FAIL Geek write up here.
Someone is not a fan of geekdom.
# wasn’t gender bending, there was a female Robin. Her name was Stephanie Brown. She was the 4th Robin briefly before becoming Batgirl.
The plant’s name is Audrey II. The plant frequently speaks to Seymour, which is how you got them mixed up.
Darth Vader scuba diver?
….Tie-Fighter pilot!
