Have you been watching The Carries Diaries, wondering what Martha Jones is doing in 1980’s Manhattan? It’s because The Carrie Diaries (and Sex and the City) is, in fact, a Doctor Who spinoff just like Torchwood or The Sarah Jane Chronicles.
And much like newest Doctor Who companion is known as both “Clara” and “Oswin”, Freemay Agyeman’s character responds to both “Martha” and “Larissa.”
Not convinced? Take a closer look at these screenshots from recent episodes of The Carrie Diaries. Is Martha mentoring Carrie to be a new companion? Is Carrie actually a Doctor Who villain whom Martha is attempting to stop?
1. This TARDIS over Manhattan
Well, well, well. Looks like The Doctor is paying 1984 a visit and it probably isn’t to have brunch with Cyndi Lauper.
2. This suspicious high school Dalek
To be fair, Daleks are always somewhat suspicious, but why is this one walking Carrie and Walt home from the train stop? Is he chaperoning them, plotting extermination, or really in need to Carrie’s keen fashion eye?
3. This TARDIS Carrie diary
Did Carrie steal that from River Song? Did River Song ask her to hold onto it for safe-keeping? Could Carrie Brandshaw BE River Song?
4. This strange diner order
Why does Carrie have such a taste for fishfingers and custard all the time? Did she learn that from Eleven?
5. This taxi cab theft
So, Carrie Bradshaw has been in the mix since the late 90s? Was the Doctor trying to stop Carrie from cheating on Aiden, or is that a fixed point in time?
6. This provocative nugget from the Sex and the City opening sequence
Looks like The Doctor has had an interest in Carrie since the very beginning…he probably even pushed her into that puddle in order to set her on the right path.
7.This lost picture of Larrisa on the TARDIS
The evidence just keeps piling up. What do you think the precise connection between Carrie Bradshaw and The Doctor is?
