As the wise Oprah once said, “Every one of us gets through the tough times because somebody is there, standing in the gap to close it for us.” Well, gentle readers, I must confess, America’s daytime queen, Oprah, always filled my gap. I’m having a tough time dealing with losing her marvelous wisdome this year. Though she still walks among us, alive and well, I’m mourning the very real fact that she will no longer be sitting with me in my living room (well, on the screen in my living room) guiding me toward fulfilling my full feminine potential. Now, we all know I love a woman in power, and I just love that she’s staying on top, but … frankly, I’ve been on a bit of a cupcake bender dreading the days ahead when re-runs will run rampant and Oprah will no longer be filling my gap with all new shows.
But thankfully, someone feels our pain. In what I believe is every Oprah fan’s anthem, “Scared About Life Without Oprah,” comedienne Maxine Lapiduss speaks to the suffering that all us women are experiencing during these very dark days. We may not have Oprah with us, but we are not alone in our sorrows! And like Jane Lynch reminds us in this video, sleepovers can be support groups for us powerful women. I’m hoping to be on the guest list for their next late night O-fest! It sounds just splendid!
I’m really scared about this shift into the NOprah stage of life. I’ve heard it’s akin to a Saturn Return, and it’s got me questioning all the things I know and love. Sigh, at least there is the OWN network!
I’ll be honest. I’ve been getting my fill of Oprah power through her network! But, I am starting to have withdrawals already. Thanks Maxine for expressing all of our heartbreak!
HYSTERICAL!!! And awesome to see Jane Lynch in it! You find really funny-ass stuff, Comedivas!
