Can you believe February is almost over? They say March comes in like a lion and out like a lamb, but I’m not sure what that means. Lions are just cats with more to cuddle, so both sound pretty good.I have a serious topic to discuss today. While cat videos have been very popular lately, no one seems to be taking them seriously for the dramatic storytelling they are. Skittles and I find it extremely frustrating that no behind-the-scenes footage focuses on cats. Sure, war movies do it all the time (I assume — my Yamama taught me that movies with explosions in them are unseemly for a lady), but where’s the real, hard-hitting feline drama?
Well, the folks at IKEA have come through, with a mini-documentary about the making of their memorable cat commerical. Watch as they unironically talk about how difficult the night ahead will be. They acknowledge the fine, nuanced cat personalities that could lead to anything happening. They even came equipped with special gear–night vision goggles! — so that not a single second of cat performance would be lost. But it’s not just an informative look at the feline entertainment industry, it’s also deeply emotional. Skittles and I were on the edge of our seats when one brave kitty got trapped behind the wall! What a riveting scene!
Definitely give this documentary a watch! And click through after that to see the commercial in it’s full delightful version. And what’s this? IKEA is releasing a cat-alogue? I never thought I’d love a store more than Petsmart, but IKEA is certainly trying to win our hearts and whiskers.
As you may remember, I recently learned about racism (published both on this site — and in my Christmas card to my African-American friend), so I’m obligated to wonder why almost all of the cats are white. Or are all cats in England white? Or is that racist against British-Felines? This is really hard.
