Comediva Pick: Welcome to Peppermint Park

Halloween is just days away. You know what that means: It’s time to get freaky.

I’ve never been a big fan of haunted houses or things that jump out and say “Boo!” When I need a good scare, I go for the downright disturbing. And that’s just one more reason why I love the Internet. The Web is a veritable Hellraiser’s puzzle box of messed up shit just waiting to be explored! I mean, just take a look at this horrifying video from Peppermint Park, a straight-to-video series “for kids.”

I know what you’re all thinking: “Is this the fever dream that Thunderbirds creators Gerry and Silvia Anderson had after staying up for 72 hours straight, eating nothing but Pop Tarts, and watching a John Waters movie marathon?” Good question.

There are many things about this video that make it so traumatic. What’s your favorite? Is it the atrociously-crafted foam rubber puppets or the way their mouth movements rarely match up with what they say? Is it their HUMAN HANDS? Maybe it’s the fact that they’re both wearing toupees. Or maybe it’s the way the one guy says “You can ask your mom to get some bubble liquid!” Seriously, who says that? Whatever it is, one thing is for sure: once you enter Peppermint Park, you may never get out. This stuff stays burned into the deepest depths of your psyche. Forever. And ever. And ever.

So, enjoy the video! And HAPPY HALLOWEEN! MWAHAHAHAHAHA!
