The Glee Project is such a genius idea that other networks now have similar shows in the works.
Here’s your exclusive preview of some of them:
The Breaking Bad Project
Several broke High School teachers compete for a guest-starring role in the groundbreaking drama, Breaking Bad, a show about a High School teacher who starts selling meth in order to make money. For the contestants, the first challenge will be to create a new type of methamphetamine. The contestants that don’t blow themselves up will go on to the next round.
The 2 Broke Girls Project
Several young waitresses compete for a guest-starring role in the next season of 2 Broke Girls. The contestant that can offend the most racial minorities in the least amount of time will win the competition AND get hired as the show’s Public Relations manager.
The Office Project
Several office temps compete for a guest-starring role in The Office. For the first challenge contestants will have to practice staring straight into the camera with their best “I-can’t-believe-this-is-happening” look. The competition will have some dry humor but, most of all, it’ll feature long stretches of excruciatingly painful dead space where absolutely nothing funny happens.
The American Idol Judge Project
A group of washed-up music legends (from a bygone era) audition to become judges on next season’s American Idol. The first competition will challenge the contestants to get really drunk right before they have to judge aspiring young singers. The first contestant to make one of the singer’s cry while simultaneously poking fun at Ryan Seacrest’s sexuality — and throwing up on Randy Jackson — gets immunity for the next round.
The Burn Notice Project
A group of retired spies audition for a guest-starring role on the show Burn Notice — a show about a spy who’s been mysteriously dismissed from an espionage organization he used to work for. The first challenge the contestants must overcome is trying to figure out how to turn a coffee cup warmer, a pebble, and a pair of deer antlers into a working iPad. The last challenge is trying to figure out who “burned” them (or who dismissed them as a spy). The winner of the contest is the one who doesn’t get so bored with the premise that they give up and just start re-watching old episodes of Friends.
The Don’t Trust the B—- In Apartment 23 Project
Several cast members from the popular 90’s drama Dawson’s Creek compete for a James Van Der Beek’s current role in ABC’s new comedy, Don’t Trust the B– In Apartment 23. The show will end with Joshua Jackson winning the competition and marrying Katie Holmes. Finally, as the credits roll, James Van Der Beek will be shown crying alone in his trailer and screaming “WHY DOES HE ALWAYS WIN?” while the song “I Don’t Want To Wait” by Paula Cole plays in the background.
