My Yamama says, “A man in need is a Satanist, indeed,” and, after accidentally walking in on Shirley watching Rosemary’s Baby, and after that night I went out with a guy who tried to hold my hand ON THE FIRST DATE (and whom Katharine set me up with), I have to agree.
In fact, as it turns out, my Yamama’s been so right about everything: I used to think that one lacey nightie of hers was her favorite just because of its loveliness, but now I know it’s all to do with responsibility. As in, why my Mama was an only child. Seriously! My Mama wouldn’t have turned out to be the spritely, charming, God-fearing woman she was if my Yamama had more than one kin to shower with love and scripture!
