GLEE Reality Recap: Asian F

With a solid plot revolving mainly around New Direction’s recent hierarchy struggles and several soulful show tune numbers, it’s easy to see why this week’s “Asian F” has been getting A pluses among reviewers.  Despite the high entertainment factor, it still carries a high “yeah, right” factor.  Let’s set the record straight with this week’s reality recap.

GLEE REALITY

With Mike Chang’s grades slipping, Mike Chang, Sr. is on his case about quitting Glee Club, though not so much with his other, seemingly more prestigious, activities.

While being the token Asian dancer in a musical performance group isn’t likely to gain you much glory, it beats being a football player who’s position isn’t even worth mentioning. Seriously, no one knows what this kid plays — and I even Googled it.

After finding Emma’s secret stash of wedding magazines, Schuester decides he needs to meet her parents.

After the directors host “The Ultimate Maria Off” to determine casting for West Side Story, they double cast Rachel and Mercedes in the role, because both members of the dramatic duo were just that gosh darned good!

With the only real difference in the performances being that Rachel sings with her eyes open while Mercedes sings with her eyes closed, the directors feel the only fair thing to do is double cast the role.

Brittany delivers a thrust-y cheer-inspired version of Beyoncé’s “Run the World,” drumming up a hell of a lot of support from the ladies of McKinley.

Brittany’s attempts at bringing the girl power brings her a throng of hopeful single ladies, much to Brit’s delight.

Mercedes snaps when Schue encourages her to push through the pain and nail those dance moves. She feels singled out and quits Booty Camp and Glee Club just like that.

After declining the role of Maria and succumbing to a total defeatist attitude, she doesn’t just feel singled out — Schue kicks her out of the club and off that high horse she’s been riding.

I have to admit, for the first time in a long time, I’m excited about next week’s episode to see where things are going (as opposed to my usual excitement over how bizarre and unrealistic things are getting.)

Gleeks, did last night’s episode restore your faith like it did mine?
