What’s your favorite cupcake flavor?talia_resized
My favorite cupcake flavor is hmm… I love sugar, so all of them, but I guess I really love a good carrot cake cupcake with cream cheese frosting.

What or whom inspired you to pursue a career in comedy?
My mom always made people laugh. Growing up she would dress up for Halloween and always quote Gilda Radner. She was my funny role model, but I didn’t know I could be funny until I moved out to LA and started taking classes at the Upright Citizens Brigade. Also, a good friend Laura Kenley taught me how to be funny.

If Chuck Norris were to corner you in an alley and challenge you to a duel, what would be your weapon of choice?
Broomstick. I would twirl it like a baton. Hopefully scare him.

What are some challenges you’ve faced since going down the comedy track? What are some things that have made all of those obstacles worth overcoming?
A challenge for me was sticking with it. I started out doing improv and I was TERRIBLE. I had to push through my insecurities to get to a place where I could be comfortable.  Also, it’s a little bit of a boys’ club. Not gonna lie… but once you are in the club it is well worth it.

What’s the funniest thing you’ve ever heard/seen?
I really love that internet video of the news reporter who is crushing grapes at some vineyard and she falls out of the barrel.. she starts making these hilarious noises when she is hurt. I cried laughing the first time I watched it. Does that make me a bad person?

Which comedienne, dead or alive, would you love to work with/meet?
In the living world, I would kill to work with Tina Fey or Julia Louis-Dreyfus. In the world of the dead, Gilda Radner and Lucille Ball. My mom and I would freak out.

In what ways do you think you’ve improved or evolved since your first comedy venture?
I think I have just become more comfortable. With that comes playing more and making more of a fool out of myself. When I am comfortable I will go way farther than if I am in my head watching myself.

What long-term/short-term goals do you have for your career?
Long term : I want to be the funniest girl in the world.  Short term : I want to be in the remake of the 90’s flick Love Potion #9.

Which character are you most like from “The Divas”?
Little bit of all of them combined. talia_pics_for_senior_chapman_thing_2007_002_2FGLA: Future Giggle Leader of America

Do you have a specific audience to whom you play/would like to play? Describe that audience, and why/how you’re playing to them.
Not really… I just like to make anyone laugh. I guess if I had to have an audience it would be

unhappy people. When you can make someone unhappy smile it feels real good.

When you’re not out writing/performing comedy, you are… ?
Reading. I love to read. Only thing I am missing is glasses. Always wanted them. Never needed them… but hopefully someday…

What’s the difference between appealing to women and appealing to men?
Not really sure. I don’t think I have been doing comedy long enough to know.

What’s your favorite comedy movie or TV show of all time?
Favorite TV show is Friends.  Favorite comedy movie is too hard.  Maybe Drop Dead Fred?

The title of your autobiography?
“Beef Stew: A Story About a Girl who Calls Her Alter Ego Beef”

Talia Tabin started acting at a young age.  She holds a BFA from Chapman University and studied at UCB and performs improv around L.A.  Nothing too exciting… oh wait… she was on Parks and Recreation.  No big deal.
