Downton Abbey… In Space!

The British smash hit Downton Abbey has introduced us to a cast of characters whom we’ve come to know and love.  There’s something alluring about the accents and the bucolic setting that anglophiles simply cannot resist.  However, now that we understand Downton Abbey writer/creator Julian Fellowes’ shtick, why not shake it up a wee bit?

What if — instead of residing in a mansion in Yorkshire — the Crawleys and their staff live on a space station, nestled in the outskirts of the solar system?

Downton Space Station takes place in year 3013, on the cusp of Galactic War One (GWI), when social lines between classes, races, and alien species are beginning to blur.

We are proud to introduce your favorite Downton Abbey characters, reimagined on Downton Space Station, a highbrow soap-opera-science-fiction crossover show.

Robert & Cora Crawley

Universe-weary Earl and Countess Grantham summer on Ganymede, leaving the Space Station in the hands of Cousin Matthew.

Matthew Crawley

Space Captain Crawley, with eyes as blue as the gasses of Neptune, serves as the station’s noble commander, who is, of course, tirelessly in love with Lady Mary.

Lady Mary

Fickle and opinionated, Lady Mary struggles to ignore her feelings for Mathew.  Instead, she dates Sir William, intergalactically-reputed jackass and publisher of The Milky Way Gazette.  Will Mary stay with William to keep her brief and lethal affair with an Alpha Centurian diplomat under wraps?

Lady Edith

On Downton Space Station, Lady Edith is a total floozy, giving up her ‘virtue’ to both extraterrestrial hoi polloi and noblemen alike.  Everyone wants to break ’em off a piece of space-Edith.

Lady Sybil

True to form, Lady Sybil runs off with a Martian ship’s mechanic in episode one.

The Dowager Countess

The Right Honourable Violet Crawley finds kindred spirits in an ancient race of hoity-toity aliens. The Dowager appreciates that the aliens’ heritage dates back to the Big Bang. The Earl’s mother and the snooty ETs get on so well, in fact, that the aliens decide to adopt Violet as their leader! The Dowager Countess becomes “The Dowager Overlord.” Worry not; she still enjoys high tea and scoffing at newfangled customs.

Mr. Carson

mrcarson_022712
Master Chief Carson makes certain that all the station staff keep their latex-veloutine spacesuits starched and ironed!

Mrs. Patmore

Mrs. Patmore reprises her role as cook. She incessantly complains about tricky otherworldly ingredients. What does one do with Cronian sea salt anyway?

Daisy

After a fatal kitchen accident involving an exploding Themiston cheese wheel, Daisy’s naïveté is excised from her body and uploaded into a robot.  No one can resist the innocent candor of “Droidsy.”

John Bates & Anna

Everyone’s favorite jinxed, abused, and underappreciated couple returns in the role of antagonists on Downton Space Station.  Angered by the endless grief they’ve suffered while serving the Crawleys, John and Anna steal a starfighter and vow revenge!  Will they succeed in blowing up Downton Space Station?  Stay tuned and find out!
