2. A Recurring Role for Tavi Gevinson
Tavi and Mindy are huge fans of each other, with each giving a shout-out to the other. So what better breakout acting role for this fashionista than on Mindy’s show?
A possible role is Mindy’s adorkably awkward nurse. Mindy’s determined to become Tavi’s mentor and educate her about the ways of the world, but each attempt only exposes how much Mindy has to learn herself. Or, if a nurse is too much of a stretch (Tavi’s only fifteen, after all), Tavi could play Mindy’s neighbor, a wise-beyond-her-years teenager she goes to for advice. Wouldn’t it be awesome to see Mindy sitting on Tavi’s floor eating Ben and Jerry’s while Tavi shows a PowerPoint breaking down where Mindy’s last relationships went wrong? Yes, please!

3. Guilty Pleasure Fashion
Mindy Kaling is the champion of fashion we only dream of rocking, from glitter nails to jumpsuits to awesome bling. Kelly Kapoor wears some pretty sweet outfits, too, but with Mindy at the helm, she won’t have to hold anything back. We’re hoping this new show is kind of a wild, sitcom-y Sex and the City, launching a bunch of new trends. Glitter talons and jumpsuits are a start, but no need to stop there. Earrings bigger than our face? Neon legwarmers with matching eyeshadow? Nonsensical shoes? Adorable hats? Don’t let us down, Mindy!
4. Childhood Flashbacks
True, rumor has it that a major source of the inspiration for the show is Mindy’s OB/GYN mom, we’re hoping bits of Mindy’s life creep in. Specifically, flashbacks to Mindy’s childhood. We loved the author photo on the flap of Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? because it showed what a BAMF Mindy Kaling is. She could have insisted on a glamorous adult photoshoot, but instead she had the confidence to show the world this picture, and we love her for it! Especially because child Mindy was ADORABLE. Hiring a cute child actress is one possibility, but let’s be honest, what we’re really hoping for is authentic home movies.
5. Emmys. All the Emmys.
From “The Dundies” to “Michael’s Last Dundies” and beyond, she’s written some of our favorite episodes of The Office (“Ben Franklin” being a personal favorite). We peed ourselves giggling over Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? This show is going to blow our minds with how fucking awesome it is. We’d go ahead and start our office pool for next year’s Emmys now, but we can’t decide who gets to bet on Mindy.
