Moffat, Whedon, and a Sandwich War

What would a Moffat/Whedon sandwich taste like? No, we aren’t talking cannibalism here. While a WMT might be delicious, surely you want to watch Season 3 of Sherlock and see what the new S.H.I.E.L.D. show is all about. What we can explore, however, is who would create the better sandwich…

Cooking, like other artistic pursuits, involves experimentation, risk-taking, and throwing things that don’t seem like they belong together, together, into a pot…or onto the page. Sometimes, one must heat things up, cool things down, or skewer something or someone (e.g. Wash in Serenity…or a corndog on a stick.)

So, how would these two creative geniuses fare in the kitchens of their own creative design? Yes, to make it a fair culinary fight, only foods mentioned in each creator’s respective milieu can be used in this battle. So which mouthwatering, wildly whimsical, sweet or savory or sandwich will make our geeky stomachs grumble the most: Joss’s Nibbles or Munchies à laMoffat?

Let’s take a look at the pantries and see what these writers-turned-chefs have to work with:

The results:

Munchies à la Moffat

Moffat’s concoction requires repurposing the crust from the mince pie as bread. Inside, we find diced fishfingers, deconstructed canapes, and tangy cranberry sauce from the Christmas dinner.

Additionally, pieces of toast, layered in the the sandwich core, serve as a spongy accent, effectively soaking up the fishfinger grease. The final step involves tossing the whole works into a deep fryer brimming with Krillitaine oil. This puppy is best served with tea and custard for dessert.

Whedon’s Nibbles

In a more homestyle meal, Whedon’s sandwich employs the go-to move of college kids everywhere: the pizza-as-bread trick. To create a sloppy joe-style filling, care must be taken to sear the doublemeat patties in a pan with finely-chopped onion blossoms, before pureeing the meaty mixture in a blender filled ¼ full of hot wing sauce from the Bronze.

Desert involves a delicate bed of strawberries, lightly sprinkled with crushed band candy. Serve with warm blood or melted ice planet…dependent on mortality.

Which sandwich would you prefer? The “Intergalactic Monte Cristo” or “The Double-Pizza Onion Thing?”
